A film of performance, poetry, music and the experience of people at war. A search for meaning in the never-ending suffering and conflicts that echo the past. “Turn in the Wound” is a look at the eternal quest for freedom against the nightmare of oppression and military force. Patti Smith in intimate readings of the works of Antonin Artaud, René Daumal and Arthur Rimbaud along with the words of the soldiers and people from the battle zones of Ukraine and their president Volodymyr Zelensky, directed by Abel Ferrara.

Logline:
Farah, an Iranian woman, is forced to migrate to her private planet to be free. She buys other people’s memories in form of super 8 mm films and records and archives her own, to create an alternative history of Iran.
 
Synopsis:
“My Stolen Planet” is a diary-style narrative by Farah, an Iranian filmmaker. Born during the Islamic revolution in Iran in 1979, she captures moments of joy and defiance in her daily life, navigating the contrast between domestic freedom and external oppression. Simultaneously, she collects 8mm archives from people she doesn’t know. Relying on others’ recordings, she gains a new perspective on losing memories.
Her connection with Leyla, an Iranian professor who left Iran during the revolution, adds a name and story to one of her archive’s faces. Farah’s mother, suffering from Alzheimer’s, motivates her to fight against forgetting. In the fall of 2022, the Women, Life, Freedom uprising became a turning point in Farah’s life, as well as in the lives of many others in Iran.
This is a homemade history.

Synopsis:
Julio Cesar (Edoardo Pesce) is almost 40 years old and still lives with his mother (Margarita Rosa De Francisco), a colombian woman with a gripping personality .
The two share practically everything: a small house on the river filled with memories, the little money they earn working for a local drug dealer, and a passion for salsa and merengue nights. An existence on the margins lived with love, at once symbiotic and oppressive, whose fragile equilibrium threatens to fall apart with the arrival of Ines (Maria Del Rosario), a young colombian girl fresh from her first trip as a cocaine “mule.” Between desire and jealousy, the situation quickly precipitates, to the point that Julio will find himself making an extreme move, on a painful journey that will take him to his homeland for the first time.

Synopsis:
Inspired by the cinema and poetry of Iran a young Indian filmmaker undertakes a self-reflexive journey to explore the lives of filmmakers and women in Tehran.
Through intimate and unexpected conversations, the camera captures revelations about how Iranians negotiate life under the Islamic Regime, its constant censorship, and the limitations on basic human expression.
Moving and unguarded exchanges with acclaimed Iranian filmmakers Jafar Panahi and Mohammad Shivani open a door into the lives of women whose daily battles with repression have been the source of their stories. We witness how the Regime dismisses the idea of femininity by erasing a woman’s body, forbidding women to sing, forbidding desire.
Over six years, the filmmaker’s camera captures the simmering anxieties, fears, hopes and dreams of a nation on the cusp of revolution. Synopsis:
Werner Herzog ist eine Ikone. Jedes Jahr wächst sein Ruhm. Viele Bilder seiner Filme sind heute Teil des kollektiven Gedächtnisses, um die Umstände seiner Produktionen ranken sich Mythen. Vor allem in Hollywood hat seine Person mittlerweile Kultstatus erlangt. Es ist eine Karriere gegen alle Wahrscheinlichkeit. Herzog spricht bis heute Englisch mit bayerischem Akzent. In seinem Geburtsland auch umstritten, ist er in seiner Wahlheimat USA zum Star aufgestiegen, er wurde als Figur in die Serie „Die Simpsons“ aufgenommen, seine Filme genießen hohes Ansehen.

Wie kommt es zu diesem erstaunlichen Werdegang und zu diesen Widersprüchen? Was macht Herzogs Filme so außergewöhnlich, dass sie auch nach Jahrzehnten weltweit einer neuen Generation von Regisseuren als wegweisend gelten? Und nicht zuletzt: Wer ist dieser Mann, bei dem bis heute Legende und Wahrheit verschwimmen?
Wichtige Wegbegleiter wie Wim Wenders oder Volker Schlöndorff geben genauso Auskunft über ihn, wie die Hollywoodstars, mit denen er gearbeitet hat (Nicole Kidman, Christian Bale, Robert Pattinson, Chloé Zhao), aber auch Herzogs Frau Lena und mindestens genauso wichtig seine Brüder.

An all-girl Catholic boarding school near Vienna for the wealthy Austrian elite and their children. The school is thriving, but faith is declining and the upper floors are deserted. Martha, 12, one of the nun’s favorite pupils, is a devoted girl who wishes to expiate the sins of the world. As well as a scientist in anthropology Mantas Kvedaravičius wished to testify as a filmmaker “as far as possible from the agitation of the media and the politicians”. I wrote this story to convey the feeling of isolation, which haunts the contemporary individual more and more in an atmosphere of rising right-wing populisms around the world. BURNING DAYS is at the same time a story of the psychological journey of a prosecutor, who finds himself searching for his own personal instincts and desires, while fighting with political corruption and criminal cases.”

Synopsis
When 22-year-old Rainer Werner Fassbinder storms the stage of the ‘Antitheater’ (Anti-Theatre) in Munich, 1967 and seizes the theatre production without further ado, nobody suspects this brazen nobody to become one of the most important post-war German filmmakers. His passionate and driven character swiftly attracts a bunch of dedicated admirers made up of actors, narcissists and suitors. As if he senses his limited life span, he almost frantically creates film after film. While Fassbinder radically pursues his creative vision and views of society and people, he polarises professionally and privately. Despite early setbacks, many of his films breakthrough at the most renowned films festivals and are hailed and hated by audience, critics and fellow filmmakers. His anger and his longing for love as well as his self-exploitation, which he also imposes on everyone around him, have made him the most memorable and radical film director, an enfant terrible.

Director´s Bio – Oskar Roehler
Oskar Roehler started his career as a screenwriter and had his breakthrough with his second feature NO PLACE TO GO (DIE UNBERÜHRBARE; 2000), a very personal portrait of his mother, which premiered in Cannes (Director’s Fortnight) and received the German Film Award (Lola) for best film. His other award winning films include ANGST (DER ALTE AFFE ANGST, 2003 – Berlinale Official Competition), AGNES AND HIS BROTHERS (AGNES UND SEINE BRÜDER; 2004 – Venice Orizzonti) as well as his film adaptation of Michel Houellebecq‘s novel ELEMENTARY PARTICLES (ELEMENTARTEILCHEN; 2006 – Berlinale Official Competition). With JEW SUSS: RISE AND FALL (JUD SÜSS – FILM OHNE GEWISSEN; 2010 – Berlinale Official Competition) Oskar created one of his most polarizing films. TOMMASO is the story of an American artist living in Rome with his young European wife Nikki and their 3-year-old daughter, Dee Dee. A work concerning imagination.

Their relationship is in turmoil and Tommaso must come to terms with his wife’s desire to change the rules of their marriage. This change between Tommaso and his wife is set against his simple day to day life in Rome; as a student taking Italian classes, as a teacher working with young acting students, his dealings with the local markets and bars, and most importantly his relationship and the pure love he feels for his young daughter and she for him.

His artistic temper however brings another dynamic to the film. There is the world and the world that exists in Tomasso’s imagination, which especially concerns and impacts Nikki and the other women in his sphere of influence. He is a buddhist with active visions of the passion of the Christ as well as an ex-addict and alcoholic in active recovery, all in a city he calls home but is still foreign with the language and his ability to communicate a struggle. The drama builds from this idea of reality and imagination, and resolves in the discovery of what he and Nikki really want, need from and are capable of giving each other and their family.

A TALE OF THREE SISTERS tells the story of three sisters from a poor village in Central Anatolia. The girls were adopted by affluent families as foster children (in Turkish ‘besleme’) in the hope of improving their lives. However, all three are forced to return to the village due to unforseen circumstances.
When Reyhan (Cemre Ebüzziya) returns home pregnant, her father Şevket (Müfit Kayacan) hastily marries her off to the poor village shepherd Veysel (Kayhan Açikgöz), who is being treated with contempt not only in the village, but also in Şevket’s (Müfit Kayacan) home. Havva (Helin Kandemir) comes back after the sad but inevitable death of her foster-brother, who has been fighting a terminal illness. A few days after Havva’s (Helin Kandemir) return, Nurhan (Ece Yüksel) is brought back to the village by her foster-father Necati (KUBİLAY TUNÇER). For the first time in years, Reyhan (Cemre Ebüzziya), Havva (Helin Kandemir) and Nurhan (Ece Yüksel) are reunited. Şevket’s (Müfit Kayacan) greatest challenge is to persuade Necati (KUBİLAY TUNÇER) to take Havva (Helin Kandemir) as ‘besleme’ into his home following Nurhan’s (Ece Yüksel) departure. With the help of the village mayor, he puts pressure on Necati (KUBİLAY TUNÇER). Veysel (Kayhan Açikgöz), who also has an agenda to leave as he despises being a shepherd, asks Necati (KUBİLAY TUNÇER) for a job that will take him out of the village.
As the three sisters negotiate their new yet familiar surroundings and relationships, Şevket (Müfit Kayacan), Necati (KUBİLAY TUNÇER) and Veysel (Kayhan Açikgöz) gather around a dinner table, all of which results in a series of unexpected clashes.

Mirko and Manolo are best friends and live in the suburbs of Rome. They both live in poor conditions with their single parents, are still in school and struggle with occasional odd jobs to make ends meet. Together they share dreams of women, of sex and money, of a better life to come.
After killing a man in a hit-and-run one night, they get involved with the local mafia and their lives change dramatically. Soon they find themselves doing the dirty work for their new bosses and have fresh blood on their hands. But lured by the dreams of easy money and illusions of a thriving career, they fail to realize the consequences of their choice.
Life in the underworld becomes exceedingly tough and Mirko and Manolo soon disconnect from family and former friends as they engage on a downward spiral, a pathway towards darkness.
